MP4, MKV or MP3: which download should you choose?

A container describes how tracks are packaged in a file. It does not, by itself, tell you the video’s resolution or quality. LinkToKeep can combine separate audio and video streams, with MP4 or MKV as the output depending on the codecs. Renaming the extension does not convert the file.

Best available versus a resolution cap

Best available selects the source formats the extractor considers best. A displayed 720p option limits the requested video height; it cannot create detail missing from the source. Lower resolution can reduce file size, but the exact size also depends on duration and compression.

Choose MP3 when you only need audio

If inspection offers Audio only, the download is processed into an MP3. Use this for an authorized audio copy rather than a video you intend to watch. Converting audio does not restore quality lost in the source recording.

When a saved video does not play

Confirm that the download finished and the file is not empty. If your player does not support the container or codec, use a compatible player or convert your own file using a trusted local tool. Keeping the original download lets you avoid repeatedly re-encoding it.
